All classes are taught by subject and in groups matched to their ability. Abingdon College offers guidance on the transition to becoming an adult, as well as endeavours to help develop students' independence and resilience in preparation for the world of work. The curriculum offers the chance to achieve their KS4 qualifications in several subjects, and arranges work experience placements for students to help them in their next steps for the future.

In all year groups Personal Development is at the core of teaching, which is carried out through lessons on Life and Social Skills, aiming to assist pupils on having positive interactions, developing friendships, self-confidence and self-image. Senior Schools also introduces career and employability skills integrated in lessons. The therapist works with indivudual pupils or in groups along with school staff, with the aim of supporting the academic and personal achievement of every student.
