Institution Overview

Rockport School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2.5 to 18 years old. It is located in Craigavad near County Down in Northern Ireland. It prides itself on its academic achievements and the pastoral care it gives to each of its students. Students at Rockport School are encouraged to go beyond just academics, and are taught how to be well rounded individuals ready for the wider world and their chosen career path. The school is passionate about sports and participates in many sports activities. As many of its students are boarding there, they make sure to recognise the importance of physical activity to maintain the physical and mental wellbeing of its students.
Academics

Rockport School believes in strong values that enhance the academic and recreational aspects of life at Rockport. They also beleive in a sense of adventure to inspire young minds to take education to the next level. Rockport School teaches classes in small groups to ensure each pupil is given the chance to reach their potential and meet their needs. They believe that every child is different and deserves to be taught in the way that they learn best. Rockport School has consistently had high GCSE and A level grades that believe is a credit to their excellent teaching approach.
Non-Academics

Rockport School is the only golf-based academy in Ireland as well as a member of the Round Square organisation. The Round Square organisation encourages six elements of learning, which are democracy, adventure, environment, internationalism, leadership and service. It's an international association that is run on five different continents that all share similar values. As Rockport School is a part of this, the shcool has the chance to arrange student exchanges between the other schools, and play a role in different projects. Some of these projects are international, and all aim to tackle the issues certain parts of the world face. For example, past projects focused on creating clean water systems and environmental conservation. All in all, Rockport School has a strong commitment to its non-academic pursuits on a global level to provide new learning experiences for its students.

Student Life / Achievement

Rockport School has achieved very high GCSE and A Level grades that are as a result of its tailored educational approach that gives each pupil individual attention. All classes are designed to be small, especially as it is a relatively small school to allow each student to have enough time to understand the content of their learning. Every teacher knows every student, and the students all know each other; this means that Rockport School has a great sense of community and belonging where the students are happy and comfortable in their learning environment.
