Institution Overview

Rougemont School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. It is located in South Wales and founded in 1926. The headmaster is currently Robert Carnevale, who was previously the deputy headmaster of the seniors. The school has three houses that the students are divided into during their time at Rougemont School. These are: Dyfrig, Gwynog and Caradog. The colours for each of the houses are red, black and grey.
Academics

Rougemont School is known to have an excellent teaching approach, with excellence in education one of their values. The most recent inspection has demonstrated that the school is meeting and surpassing its standards of academic excellence. Moreover, the wellbeing of the pupils are a priority, and the pupils are happy and comfortable learning in a safe environment that allows them to make mistakes and take risks. The school has recently achieved outstanding results in their GCSE and A Level students, and the league table indicates that it is one of the best schools in Cardiff.

Rougemont School believes that small classroom sizes are a benefit to teaching, both for teachers and for students. This is also beneficial for the wellbeing of the students, who are given the opportunity to have one to one time with their teacher to ascertain they are not being left behind. Rougemont School has many facillities including 55 acres of grounds and a variety of extra curricular activities, some of these including sports, music and games.

For example the PE department has the pleasure of having freedom and the motivation of delivering its best teaching to its pupils. In fact, the PE and Wellbeing Programme is run by the school, and aims to develop the students positively, both physically and mentally. It incorporates aspects of sports psychology in order to help the students grow in endurance, power and mobility, as well as in concentration, attention and communication.
